Allen Cay, Bahamas

Allen Cay, Bahamas

Allen Cay is a trio of tiny, uninhabited isles at the tip-top of the Exumas chain, roughly 30 miles (48 km) southeast of Nassau. The main attraction is Allen Cay, encircled by stunning beaches. Just below is Southern Allen Cay, shaped like a horseshoe, and neighboring Leaf Cay, a long, slender strip sans beaches.

Allen Cay, a deserted island teeming with a “mess” (yes, that’s the official term for a group of iguanas) aka Iguana Island, is the place to be with hundreds of wild iguanas. As the dinghy hums closer to shore, dozens of iguanas will begin to emerge from the bushes.
